“Over the centuries, the values in space exploration have been actively changing. By exploring the architectural heritage, its interiors and structures, we can see a striking contrast in the psychological way we see, feel, and use the space we live in.
While exploring El Escorial, we found a strong contrast and an interesting connection between the spaces and their function. The interweaving of functions and their connection with each other is incredible: the architectural approach to the design itself, the camouflaged rooms, hidden stairs and passages, with the help of which you can get to the king’s bedroom from the cathedral and back.
Through the centuries, we can observe the changed psychology of space in the structure of Poblenou. A more functional and mobile approach to living space is shown in the middle picture. After a brief analysis of the plans of an existing building, it was hypothesized that modern buildings can be understood through reverse engineering. For this hypothesis, a detailed drawing of possible ramifications of all communications (from electricity to water supply) in a selected part of the building, a temperature map on one of the floors, and a detailed drawing of the occupation of the building were prepared.
The right figure depicts the near future approach to the building structure. All communications are placed on the façade. The inhabitants of the building in the figure actively communicate with the environment and the outside world, leaving the space behind the main façade wall free, mobile and multifunctional. The double façade proposed for the renovation of the Poblenou building is a new world, actively filled with plants, inhabitants and life.”
